There are a lot of photographers out there who don't love shooting mini sessions. I am not that girl. I love getting to have a sneak peak into the lives of families and capture their love for one another, even if it's just for a super short session.
When Beth contacted me, she told me that her in-laws were all coming in from California, and that they wanted to capture their whole family together. From the moment we met at the top of the hill at Glencoe Beach, they showed me that distance doesn't keep a family from being incredibly close.
Nothing says joy like watching your child freak out in the face of his first birthday cake. Ok, not really. While this little man wasn't impressed with his cake at the start, some snuggles and help from mom and dad had him chowing down in no time.
These twinsies were so funny on picture day. All dressed up, they took turns being the grumpy one. Because of course, as every mom knows, it's nearly impossible to have both kids all fancy for photos and then get them both to smile simultaneously.
Sometimes, it feels like fate when I meet a family. This incredible family was referred my way by one of my mini-session clients, and it turned out that we had other friends in common without even knowing it.
I love shooting lifestyle newborn sessions. Don't get me wrong - posed newborns in their true squishy naked goodness are heavenly, but to me, the essence of a newborn is the magnetic force of love he draws close.
